Sichuan donates a pass rate of only 15% experts say do not represent the male fertility in Chengdu to reduce the new network on 28 October, (Wang Peng) Sichuan province human sperm bank director Yue Huanxun 28, Washington reporters, the library has ushered in the 1000 donors this year, preliminary statistics, semen screening qualified rate was only 15%, but this figure does not mean reduced male fertility. Sichuan province human sperm bank was set up in 2012, after two years of trial operation, officially began operation at the end of 2014, is the Southwest’s first Chinese human sperm bank. In accordance with the relevant provisions of between 22 to 45 years old, no infectious disease, genetic diseases and major diseases, no drugs, alcohol and other bad habits China citizens may voluntarily donate. Yue Huanxun told reporters, a few years ago, every year to donate semen volunteers about 300 people, of which semen screening qualified rate of about 25%. With the increase of nearly two years of propaganda as of now, the library has ushered in the 1000 donors, but the sperm screening rate is further reduced, the current is only about 15%. Does the decrease in semen screening rate represent a decrease in male fertility? Yue Huanxun gave the negative answer. Sperm bank screening is very strict, and this standard is far beyond the standard of normal people." Yue Huanxun told reporters that the screening criteria for sperm banks were higher than the assessment criteria for fertility assessment in men. "Secondly, after the popularization of popular science, the increase in the number of donors is also one of the reasons for the decrease in eligibility rate." Yue Huanxun said, a few years ago, the qualified rate is slightly higher, because the donor for college students, graduate students, civil servants, their way of life is the law of life, health. "This year after the increase in the number of people who come to donate identity is mixed, some people just want to donate see their fertility, the qualified rate of decline is normal." Don’t talk about healthy lifestyle, the tremendous pressure of life is also lead to donor semen screening qualified rate, Yue Huanxun said, "these factors certainly exist, but it is not the main reason." The reporter learned that a qualified donor could benefit 5 families. According to estimates, about 20 thousand infertile patients in Sichuan each year need healthy semen to complete reproduction. As a result, this demand is far from being met in terms of current donor size and screening eligibility rates. Sperm and blood, bone marrow is offer, the gift of love to the society." Yue Huanxun said that the sperm is to help infertile couples act, hope that more male citizens have a sense of social responsibility to join the volunteer team to donate. (finished)
